Lambayeque avocado producers exported 201 tons of avocado to the UE

During the 2020 avocado export season, Senasa approved 146 production sites covering 6005.02 hectares. The Lambayeque region exported 26,007,606 metric tons to various countries such as the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, France, Belgium, China, South Korea, the United States, Argentina, and Chile.

For its part, Cusco consolidates its export of Hass avocado and the district of Limatambo becomes its main producer. In the last week, Limatambo producers sent a shipment of 42 tons of said fruit to Switzerland.

Unlike previous shipments, this is the first time that the Hass avocado has been packed for export in the same Limatambo valley, located in the province of Anta, with the support and certification of the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa).

The entity stressed that this first shipment represents an important step for the producers of this valley, since before the packaging and sealing of the vehicles, packing for export, they did in Ica, reported Pedro Castro, head of Plant Health of Senasa Cusco .

“Today, Cusco has an avocado processing plant that will allow the agro-export activity of the Limatambo valley to continue to experience favorable results as in recent years. In 2020, the campaign closed with 232.32 tons sent to the European and Asian market ”, highlighted the specialist.
